The HTC is at 4th and Chestnut Streets in Harrisburg. It was built in 1885, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2005, it had 339,599 Amtrak boardings plus alightings, making it the second busiest Amtrak station in Pennsylvania.

The Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority currently maintains the HTC Station, which is in the beginning stages of construction for a $5.2 million improvement project. In order to accommodate the locally preferred alternative, the station has plans to convert an existing low level platform to a high level platform that would include an elevator for ADA access into the station building. The current station has multiple full length platforms, with one being a high level platform that is used by Amtrak.
